FIRE AT COALMINE.

[ £3OO DAMAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. A fire broke out on Sunday evening in a building at the pit-mouth of the Lovell’s Flat Coalmine, which resulted in the destruction of, or partial destruction of the poppet-head and building containing the pit-head frame, elevator, small engine, b'aeksmith’s shop, and stove-main. The driving machinery was in another building, and escaped. The actual extent of the damage is not known. Manager pheeseman went up this afternoon to inspect and get everything replaced. The machinery and plant affected is valued at £BOO, and is partly covered hy insurance. The origin of the fire is a mystery. I
