A FARMERS’ CANDIDATE. Per Press Association. New Plymouth, last night. An influential deputation waits on Mr Joseph Mackay to-morrow, to request him to stand for Egmont, in the Government and farmers interests. It is understood he will accede to the request. AN UNUSUAL SIGHT, The first train under the new arrangement with tho Manawatu Company came through to-night. It was composed of the Company’s cars, and the unusual sight attracted considerable attention. ANOTHER CANDIDATE. A meeting of prominent members of the farming and other interests in Egmont electorate was held at Waitara to-day, when the question of a candidate was discussed. A decision will be arrived at to-morrow, but it is understood that opinion is unanimously in favor of Mr Jennings as their candidate.
