DUNEDIN NEWS.
POLITICAL ADDRESSES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. Mr J. J. Rattray, candidate for Taieri, addressed the electors at Mosgiel, to-night, and received a vote of thanks. He declined a voto of confidence until they had heard all the candidates. Ho announced himself as a free Liberal, with general leanings towards the Government policy, but would not be tied down by pledges to any union or party. Ho was well received by a large meeting. Mr Donald Reed, junr., another candidate for Taieri, addressed a meeting of electors at Outram. He announced himself as in opposition to the Government, condemned the set financial administration, and advocated severe retrenchment all round. He received a vote of thanks. RACING. A meeting was held to-night to elect the office-bearers of the newly-formed Forbury Park Racing Club. The Hon. H. Gourlay, who presided, said the club had 200 members, and they hoped soon to have 500. The company had granted the use of the Park on most favorable terms. The Hon. H. Gourlay was elected President, and Mr R. Rutherford Vice-Presi-dent. A hack meeting is to be held on December 20.
