BACKDOWN ON ELECTORAL BILL.

The Federal House has passed the Estimates, including tho additional grant of £257,000 necessitated by the refusal of the loan. This involves a total reduction of £220,000 in the amounts roturnei to the States. The balance will bo taken from tho ordinary estimates. On the motion of Sir William Lyne, tho House agreed to all tho Senate’s amendments in the Electoral Bill, Mr Reid protesting that it was a humiliating back down after compelling members to hold out bo long. The House adjourned to Thursday, with the view of proroguing on Friday.
