CHEERLESS OPENING CERE MONY.
IBy Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, Saturday, The boating season was opened to-day-in miserably cold, showery, and boisterous weather. The Governor was present and gave a short address in the rain, after which there was a procession of boats, in which the Wellington, Star, Petone, and Horowhenua Clubs and the navals took part. Ten crews competed in the four-oar race, the event being won by Crawford's crew, Wellington Club.
