APPLICATIONS FROM RETURNED TROOPERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. A deputation of returned officers and troopers waited on the Minister of Lands yesterday, to see if the Government would be prepared to offer them special terms for settliog on land in the colony instead of going to South Africa. The Minister promised to see what could be done, and pointed out that under the existing conditions they could form a special settlement. Mr Witheford, M.H.R., who has been intereeting himself in the matter of settling the returned troopers on the land, has received a number of enquiries from men with small capital who desire to take up land. *
