AN EMBEZZLER.
DOING THE AMIABLE AT OTHER PEOPLE’S EXPENSE. By. telegraph—Press Association— AUCKLAND, last night. Frank Pulman came before the Court to-day for sentence (for misappropriation of money). His Honor said that this was a most serious case, as there were four charges of forgery and thirteen of theft tlie total amount involved teing £7BO.
His Honor asked if the prisoner had made any statement as to what had become of the money. Detective Mclleveney deposed that prisoner had told him that he had apent the whole of the money in “ liquoring 11 and “shouting” lo:: friends. Mr Tolo said that of the total sum £lßl was in 11)01, and the remainder in 1002.
Detective Mclleveney stated that the prisoner received £l5O a year, and had a freo house. He had a wife and several children. Prisoner was sentenced to live years’ imprisonment on each case, the sentences to be concurrent.
