THE LAND BILL.

(Special to Times.) Wellington, last night. I understand definitely that the Land Bill will not be proceeded with this session. The measures proposos too many alterations of tho existing law, and a largo number of amendments have been given notice of by members.

THE POULTRY INDUSTRY. Tlio Agricultural Department says that thopoultry industry in the colony is increasing rapidly. Thousands of fowls are now found in districts where hundreds only were obtained about two years ago.

HON. J. CARROLL, i understand the Hon. J. Carroll’s extended tour of the Native lauds in the North Island during the recess, and the information gained with regard to roads, bridges, and wants of the districts, proved of valuable service when tho Public Works Estimates were being framed. The Native and Maori Laud Laws Amendment Bill will he dealt with tonight or to-morrow. THE TRANSPORT CHARGES.

The Secret Transport Commission, winch was set up to investigate the conditions in which the New Zealand troopers were brought back to the colony on the Britannic and Orient from South Africa, have forwarded their report to tho Governor. It will probably be presented to Parliament on Friday. It is understood that the Commissioners will report that the charges put forward have been exaggerated. The Commissioners will make recommendations concerning the degree of discipline maintained on the transports. A lively discussion is anticipated when the report gets on to the floor of the House.

WEST COAST SETTLEMENT RESERVES. Xu moving the committal of the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act Amendment Bill, Bir Joseph Ward said it was considered desirable to bring all the native reserves under the control of the Public Trustee, under cne system. Tho Bill had been before a select committee, and this course had been recommended. The Bill was committed.
