Tho Australians won the toss, and arc batting. Hill, Carter, and Jones wero omitted. Tho South of England team includes Hayes. Tho Australians’ first innings produced 123. Tho first throe wickets fell for 30. Tho scoring was difficult. Armstrong and Noble ruado a stand before lunch, raising tho total to 03 for four wickets. After lunch tho wicket becaino very difficult. Armstrong was caught at tho wickets. Fivo wickets for Off. Noble gave one chance in compiling his score. Tub aovonth wicket produced 80. Bowling analysis: Trumblo, nine for 89; N oblo, nil for 28; Saunders, one for 14. Tho first four Australian wickets fell for 24. Both Trutnpor and Darling were brilliantly caught. Noble, who mado a etanc'/.gavo a couple of chancos. The last four wickots foil in half an hour for 80. Tho ground was very troachorous. The scoros woro :
