STARTLING DISCLOSURES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Svdnoy, Sopt. 10. An inquiry has opened as to the loss of tho missing steamer Quirang. Carlbon, a donkeyman, stated that ho left the vossol owing to the largo quantity of water he found below just beforo sho sailed on her last voyage. Thoro was two feet of wator in tho hold, four foot in tho engine-room, and two feet in the bunkers. Tho vessel’s hatches wero too open, and with heavy seas tho water got below. Gardner, a fireman, said ho left tho Quirang becauso of tho water below. Smith, lato third engineer, cousidorod the vessel in every way soaworthy. Edmunds, a sailor, said ho left tho vessel because he did not think hor safo. Ho told the captain his roason. Ho alleges that the latter replied : “ I wish I could do the sarno myself.” The inquest was adjourned.
