(To the Editor of the Times). Sir,—More than twelve months ago tho Chairman of the Harbor Board stated that tho}Mourayvould}be berthed at the Gisborne wharf in less than twelve months, and still at tho last meeting of the Board tho depth at low water was down to the wading point of 3ft; and yet we have a £IO,OOO dredge. Tho fire engine will have to bo brought out again to remove the abominable mud that tho freshes bring up the river on the Kaiti side. If we could only got rid of the old “ man ” who lives on tho Kaiti, wo would be all right. Ho seems to me to bo responsible for all the mud. Ho goes iuto seven figures of mud, and however can wo have a harbor while we havo such a hoary-headed sinner as this among ns ?—I am, etc., Mud.
