On enquiry it appears that somo at least of the occupiers of the premises in Deo street, so frequently mertanebd iately bv fires believed to ho wilfully started, have not received intimation from tho offices that their insurances have boen cancelled, A FOOL’S ESCAPE.
Last night a tipsy man had a narrow escape from being killed by a train. Ho was walking between the rails on Tyno street, when a boy called tho attention of Mr Young, town clerk, who was passing, The man paid no heed to shouting, and Young ran to the side of the railway and spoke Bhurply to him. He stopped, looked up, bis heels took the rail, and he fell outside just as the engine passed the spot tho line traversed. The entire street is fenced except at that block.
