A DENIAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At a presentation to Captain Fisher by non-com. officers and men of E Squadron of tho Tenth Contingent, tho statement of tho allegod melee at Newcastle was given an emphatic denial. It was said that tho relations between the “ Tommies ” and Colonials had always boon most cordial. HOTEL COMPANY. The well-known hostelry, Warner’s Hotel, has been floated into a limited liability company, with a capital of £56.000, and with Mr P. Herman, the present proprietor, as supervising manager. Large additions are to bo at once gone on with. NEW THEATRE. A local syndicate has purchased tho freohold of tho Theatre Royal and adjoining property, and a now and modern theatre is to be erected. The frontage will bo on Cathedral Square, adjoining Warner’s Hotel, instead of Gloucester street as at present.
