Sir Gordon Sprigg snubbed the Paarl loyalists for parading their loyalty. He did not consider there was the slightest necessity for further legislation in regard to sedition or traffic in arms and ammunition. The loyalists retired indignant. New York, Sept. 3.
Strikers fired the Pocahontas Colliery, Virginia, which is burning furiously. The mine guards and strikers exchanged volleys. Berlin, Sept. 3. Tho Emperor and Empress made a State entry to Posen. The reception was courteous, but there was no enthusiasm. There was a vast display of troops. The surrounding country is practically an armed camp. Tho visit is regarded as a demonstration iu support of the Kaiser’s determination to Germanise the Polish provinces. The Kaiser, in tho course of a conciliatory speech, ordered the removal of fortifications in order to facilitate tho enlargement of tho city.
