MAN STABBED.
OUTCOME OF A ROW.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Mastorton, last night.. A shocking affair took place at midnight on Saturday in Queens street, Masterton, when a laborer namod Daniel Mahoney stabbed a rabbiter named Edwin Gunther, aged 28, in the groin, inflicting a terrible wound, his bowels protruding. The wounded man was promptly attended by Dr Ross, and conveyed to the hospital in an unconscious state. Drs Butement and Brugh, with Dr Ross, performed an operation. The man is considered to be in a precarious state. He revived sufficiently yesterday afternoon for his depositions to be taken by Mr James, S.M. Mahoney was arrested, and stated that Gunther ond two other men had set upon him, knocked him down, kicked him, and shouted murder, and he had acted in selfdefence. He said that previously in the evening he took refuge from some men. The affair appears to be the outcome of a row in a hotel in the previous part of the evening. Lator. —Tho victim of tho stabbing ' affray on Saturday night is still in a critical condition. Mahonoy, the prisoner, has boen remanded until Thursday.
