DEPUTATION TO MINISTER.

A deputation waited on tho Minister of Education, and submitted resolutions passed at tho Education Boards’ Conference. Tho Minister said that in several instances tho recommendations of the Conference were either under consideration or in process of being carried out. Au application for increase of capitation would bo considered, but the Department thought thcro should bo no urgent necessity for additional funds, seoing that the allowance was more liberal than under tho old system. The question of placing High Schools under the control of Education Boards involved a change that should not bo lightly undertaken. Tho Minister said that it was not intended to centraliso inspectors. Ho hoped that the provision mado for relieving teachers would bo found adequate. There were indications that training schools would bo established in suitable centres. The question of making secondary education free was occupying attention, and ho trustod that a satisfactory solution would bo arrived at.
