In Committee on the Bank Holidays Biff, Mr Laurenson added that the following proviso be added to section 27 of the principal Act, “ Provided that no day other than that which is being observed as a general public holiday in the district in which the bank is situated shall be proclaimed a special bank holiday.” This proviso was agreed to by 32 to 27. Mr Pirani moved the following new clause, '• If any banks’ employee be employed in the ordinary course of business on a bank holiday, the bank authorities shall be liable to a penalty dot exceeding L 5 for each offence in respect of each bank employee so employed.” This was agreed to on the voices.
