(By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night.

The Education Conference this morning resolved that the attention of the Minister be directed to the lack of young male teachers, probably caused by the small salaries offered; that the Government make provision for free secondary education for all children who have passed the sixth standard, subject to the necessary regulations; that in order to secure uniformity in appointments of teachers, the Boards be recommended to forward the names of all applicants to a School Committee with the testimonials, and that one name bo selected, with an intimation that the Board proposes to appoint this teacher, provided tho Committee docs not give valid reasons to tho contrary.

It was decided to wait on the Government and lay the decisions before Ministers. The Conference then adjourned.
