(By Telegraph—Press Association.) New Plymouth, last night. A poll was taken to-day on a proposal to raise a loan of being for the consolidation of several loans, totalling .£BO,OOO, for waterworks extension, electric light, street improvements, and baths, with an addition of 1210,000 for further improvements. The poll was carried by 497 votes to 24. Napier, last night. Tbe Napier Borough Council, at their meeting to-night, had under consideration recommendations from the Public Works Committee for a loan of 4)70,000 for various works, including the formation of streets, public baths, destructor, Septic tank, public library, and technical schools, etc. The Council decided to refer the proposals back to the Committee with a view to a reduction.
