Dunedin, last night.

■Yu inquest was held on the body of Richard Davey, carpenter, 67 years of an-e, whose body whs found in the harbor. The jury returned a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind. At Palmerston to-day the licensee of the Palmerston Hotc-1 pleaded guilty to allowing liquor to be consumed on his premises at such times when the hotel was required by law to be closed. He was fined £5 aud costs, and the license endorsed. A second information for per mitting gamling was laid, but the Magistrate decided on treating them as one. The Police Inspector declined to withdraw the second information,
