The balance of profit and loss stands at £4621, equal to £3 9s per share, which becomes available for distribution at tho termination of the Society. Eight months ago Group No. 2 was started, 1000 shares offered being over-subscribed. The Bowing Club carnival realised over £SOO during tho week. The club intend purchasing, two boats and extending their shed accommodation. Splendid weather has been experienced here for the last ten days.

Greymouth, last night. Mr Harry Smith, teacher at the Grey High school, has been appointed Inspector for tho Grey Board. A sample of coal got out of the Tyr.side mine is very good. Tho mine will bo exporting in a month. The quartz reef in Mount Paparoa is improving as the drive goes in. It is believed they will be ablo to form an idea of the extent of the low-lying reef in a month. If traced to its full extent it will bo one of the most valuable reefs in the colony

Westport, last night,

When alighting from a train Mrs Jas. Carruthers fell and sustained injuries necessitating her removal to the hospital. The Hon. Mr Reeves stated at the Harbor Board meeting yesterday that the Wellington investors who have taken up two coal leases in this district have £ IOO,OOO capital behind them.
