The steamer Queen Wilhclmina, bound from New York to Adelaide, was picked up 50 miles off Albany with a broken tail shaft, and has been towed in. She was drifting four days. Melbourne, Aug. 19. Tho postal and telographic service of tho Commonwealth last year resulted in a loss of over £16,000, though tbo New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australian Department made a profit of £33,000. Sir George Tumor delivers the Federal Budget about the beginning of October. Ho expects the tariff to show a return of about £8,942,000. Sydnoy, Aug. 19. Country reports indicate that the wheat areas this year will be somewhat less than last. Rain is urgently wanted.
