Mr Hill was farewelled at a concert given by the combined musical societies of Sydney. The Governor and a large number of New Zalanders were present. The composer’s cantata “ Hinemoa" was rendered.
Mr Palmer, recently appointed Town Clerk of Wellington, was entortained by the Municipal staff.

TISLER’S CONFESSION OF MURDER.

Melbourne, Aug. 18,
Tisler ha 3 confessed the murder of Sangol. Ho alleged that ho had illicit rolatious with Mrs Sangol for tho past twelve months, and she pestered him into killing her husband, constantly declaring that her lifo was miserable with him. It was arranged that Tisler should come on tho night of the murder, and she showed a light at the window when her husband was asleep. She admitted him to the bedroom and stood at the door watching while he beat Sangol to death in his sleep. She then assisted him to throw tho body into a well, and cleaned up tho blood. She concocted the story of suicide, aud gave Tisler £2. When leaving ho arranged to return and live with her.
