WOOL SALES.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. report :—Wo hold our periodical salo of wool, skins, hides, and tallow on Friday. Several Auckland buyers were present, Napier being unrepresented. At tho auction bidding was slack, and a large portion of our catalogue was passed in, but wo cleared tho whole of it afterwards at our reserves, which wore at substantial advances to those offered at auction. Our catalogue comprised 40 bales of wool, about 2000 skins, 30 hides, and a quantity of tallow. Prices realised were: Rough fleece wool 3d, crutchings 14d to 2d; well-saved skins, 24d to 3d; inferior ljd to 2d; hides, from 2§d to 3d; tallow, 22s per cwt. Messrs Williams and Kottle, Limited, report holding their periodical sale of wool and skins and hides on Friday last, when there were buyers present from Auckland and Napior, as well as the usual local buyers. The catalogue consisted of 72 bales of wool, 2 pockets, 30 bags, 260 skins, 35 hides, and a quantity of tallow. Prices for wool wore a little low, as was expected in the face of the poor reports that camo to hand by tho last ’Frisco mail. Skins also suffered in proportion, though for full-woolled skins, well saved, we reached last sale rates. Competition for tallow was very keen, especially for shipping lines. We quote Dingy fleece 3d, clean doad wool 2Jd to 3d, crutchings 2d to 2Jd, second crutchings lijd, looks 1 jd. Skins: Heavy, well-saved pelts, 2Jd, 3d, to 3Jd; medium station skins, 2Jd to ljjd to 24d. Pelts : Poor, id to 4d. Hides : Station 2ijd to 3d, dry 24d. Tallow : Rough, in tins, 18s toJ2os ; shipping lines, to 245.
