By Telegraph—Press Association. Woffington, last night. Tho Council met at 2.30, but only formal business was transacted.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
The House met at 2.30 p.m. AUCTIONS BILL TO BE STRANGLED. Tho Joint Stock Committee havo recommended that the Land and Live Stock Auctions Bill bo not proceeded with this session. BIBLE IN SCHOOLS. In reply to quostions, tho Minister stated that it was nut contemplated this session to legislate in tho direction of enabling electors to express their opinion on tho question of Bible reading in schools.
EVENING SITTING.
The House met at 7.30.
On a motion to go into Committoo of Supply, Blr Herrics complaiued of tho laxity of the Government in negotiating the South African stoam service.
Blossrs Tanner and Ell adversely criticised tho administration of the Educational Department.
Blessrs Pirani and Atkinßon formally condemned tho administration of tho Defonce Department.
Blr Ward said the Government had dono everything it could to obtain a good South African steam servico for tho colony, and could not in any way bo blamed for failure of negotiations. Tho House then went into Committed of Supply for further consideration of the Estimates.
