EXPORT OF STOCK.

THE WAIL OF THE BUTCHERS

By, Telegraph—Press Association—(By Telephone from Napier.) Wellington, last night. A deputation representing the master butchers of the city waited on the Minister of Lands to-night, and represented that the great demand now being made on the flocks of the colony would cause a great shortage in the future. Moreover, the butchers had not been able to raise the price of meat, and consequently, the deputation alleged, that the trade was in a serious difficulty. The Government should, the deputation urged, put an export duty on stock. . Mr Duncan, in reply, said the matter would be a delicate one to handle, but he promised to consider it.
