LABOR CANDIDATES.
(By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Tho Auckland Trades and Labor Council have resolved to recommend tho Unions to run two labor candidates at the forthcoming general election, and to approach Government with a view to having a representative of labor appointed to one of tho vacant soats in the Legislative Council. COLONIAL AMMUNITION. During last month (July) the Colonial Ammunition Company manufactured and delivered to New Zealand Government ,■ 550,000 rounds ’BO3 ammunition for use of tho defo'nco forcos, being at the rate of about six and a-half million rounds per annum. BISHOP COWIE’S SUCCESSOR. The Commission appointed at the recent meeting of the Synod to make enquiry in England and elsewhere as to thoso available for the offico of Bishop and to report to tho next meeting of the Synod the names and qualifications of those commendod to thorn, decided to cable to Bishop Moorhouse, of Manchester, with a view to his sending out by early mail the names of a few suitable clergymen who may be available for the position. A cable to this effect was despatched to-day.
