FIRE AT NAPIER.
CAUSED BY TINS OF PHOSPHOROUS. (By Telegraph -Press Association. Napier, last night. An outbreak of lire occurred this afternoon in a storeroom at flic rear of the premises of Mr A. J. Williams, chemist. A tin of phosphorous bad corroded, and the contents leaked out, and after smouldering for a long time it burst into tliuno. The fire brigade succeeded in confining the fire to the storeroom, but not boforo damage to the extent of X’loo had been done to the stock. The situation of tho building is right in the centre of Hastings street, and it is fortunate that tho firo was prevented from spreading.
