(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last, night. The Crown Lands Board has decided to submit to the Government the results of an experiment for applying kauri trees for gum. The results of local, trials were phenomenal. The Coronation Committee have agreed to celebrate the occasion on August 9. The original programme was adopted. The City Council lias decided to approach tiie (ire insurance companies for a reduction in premiums, in view of the up-to-date plant provided to cope with fires. The Council also resolved to enforce flie by-law against expectoration on footpaths. Mr Hector N. .Simson announceshimself ns a candidate for Auckland City as an Independent Liberal. The Tramway Company submits to the Council that it cannot enforce the penalties for delay in completion of the electric tram service, contending that (lie delays- have been unavoidable through no fault of the company, which was provided for in the deed of delegation.- The Council has referred the question to its Legal Committee for a report.
WELLINGTON, last night, Richard Datliousic, who pleaded guilty to forgery before tho Magistrate, was admitted to six months’ probation, and ordered to pay lliree guineas- costs of prosecution. STRATFOIU), last night. Mr Domic, of the Tourist Department. accompanied by Mr McKenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lands, .visited Mount Egmont Reserves. The Committee visit both the Stratford and Dawson Falls houses. A deputation from this district, was told by the Minister that the Strat-ford-Wiiaiiganiomona railway would he completed to Whaiigamonioiia jWithin two years.

In connection witli the postal changes- at Nelson Mr J. G. Woon, senior mail clerk at Wanganui becomes chief clerk at Nelson, and Mr C. A. .Seymour, at present senior operator at Nelson, assumes charge of the telegraph branch. The destination of Mr Drydcn, acting-chief clerk, has not transpired officially. A fruit-growers: meeting is- called for 'to-morrow, to protest against the recent raising of commission by brokers in the chief centres to 111 per cent, without rebate. Mr W. E. Reynolds, with a pair of gold sleeve links, for their -services in connection with the late show, which gave a credit balance of £65. The sum of 33 guineas- was promised at f-nc dinner for next year. There is much enthusiasm at the success of the show.
WANGANUI, last night. A meeting of shareholders of the Upjected the offer of £3200 made by HatRiver Settlers Company yesterday rerick and Company for the steamer Aotca, and decided to raise additional capital to carry on. The Maoris will raise £7OO and the up-river settlers! a like amount, and close on £10,001) has been promised by townspeople. The Maoris also pledged themselves to give the whole of the proceeds of the next fruit crop to the fund if necessary.-
