Sir Joseph Ward -said that the financial position of the colony was sound, and there was no cause whatever for uneasiness. Tho Government could get all the money it required to carry out its policy. The debate on on the second reading of the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Bill was resumed. Midnight.—Tho debate on the Loan Bill is still going on. Messrs Thomas McKon/.ie and McGuiro condemned the system undor which cooperative works were carried out. Mr Guinness strongly urged, tho completion of the Midland Railway, to connect Canterbury and the West. Coast, and place that section with tho North Island trunk line as the first work of national importance.
