TELEGRAM FROM MR CARROLL.

COST OF THE MONUMENT.

Last evening Mr W. Gaudiu, Secretary of the Cook Memorial Fund, received the following telegram from the Hon. J. Carroll : “ During the last few days have been frequently asked what will be the probable cost of memorial. Can you give me an idea ? ”

Tho following reply was sent: “ Will plac-e your telegram before Committee. Personally think that every endeavor should be made to raise sufficient money not only to erect monument, but also to beautify locality and secure fifty acres vicinity. Monument alone will probably cost at least seven hundred pounds. Committee look to you to collect a few hundred. Ivia ora I”
