Advices received iiere show that New Zealand ha 3 taken an honorable position in the “good words” Coronation ode competition open to the British Empire. Out of over eleven hundred poems submitted seventy-four K’CVe from New Zealand, and of these three are deemeu " nf great excellence,” and will be included in a collection of about three dozen oi the best odes to be published in book form These aro respectively by Lucy Eveline Smith, of Dunedin ; J.
