Tho contest between Mrs Kane’s team and Mr Coleman’s was a close and exciting one, and furnished some excellent games. No one could have wished for a better display of brilliant placing and driving than tho encounter between Mrs Kane and Miss Seymour provided. These ladies had a little crowd round them throughout the game, and tho applause was continued for some time after Miss Seymour made the winning stroke, which gave her a victory by the narrow margin of 3 points. Miss L. Coleman and Mr H. A. Barton contested every inch of ground on their table, and the young lady gained a meritorious win by one point. Messrs W. L. Coleman and Frank Sharp each showed fine form in this contest.

The semi-final provided another splendid series, and the interest was very keen. G. Morice’s team defeated the Gisborne Club A team by seven points, and thus qualified for the final. For Mr Morice's team Miss N. Morice maintained the excellent form she had displayed throughout the competition, while Messrs J. Morice and Peach proved too strong for their opponents. For the Club Messrs F. Palairet and O. H. Butler played finely,
