Mr F. Pettie has sold his store at Waipiro to Mr J. W. Williams, but tho latter will not take possession until October.

Mr W. B. Dines has been appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board to the charge of a school on East Capo Island. He leaves Waipiro, where ho has spent a number of years, at the end of the month. We join with our coastal readers in wishing Mr Dines every success in his new position. AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE.

Whilst tho Omapere was handling cargo at Waipiro on the last trip up tho Coast, an accident occurred to one of tho steamer’s open boats, which was engaged taking the goods ashore. The boat got caught in a heavy swell, and was swished on to a rock. After souio difficulty tho boat was righted, but only to again hit ono of tho mauy rocks. The experience was exciting, and to some extent dangerous, but fortunately not much damage was done. Some of the goods were slightly damagod by water, but tho boat itself was not much the worse for the bumping.
