RACING CONFERENCE.

At the Racing Conference to-day, it was agreed to add to rule 79 a proviso that jockeys may be required to produce their licenses to clerks of scales, and rule 96 was amended so that races started before the appointed time shall be run over again. It was resolved to draft a rule making it clear that in tho case of any disqualified persons training a horse during a period of one month prior to the date of nominations, suoh liorseo would be disqualified ; also chat no disqualified person may bo employed assisting in training. Provision was made for licensing stable servants. It was made clear that clubs could grant relief from the provident fund to the widow of a trainer or jockey. A fine of £1 was mado compulsory in the case of horses running with wrong colors up. It was resolved that gentlemen riders can apply direct to racing clubs for certificates, and that it be a recommendation that the fees so received go towards trophies for events won by gentlemen riders.
The concluding business of the Racing Conference was the consideration of the report of the committee set up to consider the arrangement of dates and permits. This report was adopted. It provides that the same number of permits will be allocated as in tho past season. In tho event of there being any pormits available, the following clubs are to receive favorable consideration : Whangarei, Papakura, Stratford, Eltharn, Waverley-Waitotara, Wairarapa, and Pahiatua. The Waikouaiti club is entitled to a permit used last season by tho Palmerston club. Masterton and Wyndham clubs have to select dates for their spring meetings to the satisfaction of the Chairman. The Dunedin Jockey Club is to race on December 26 and 27, and on Juno 3 and 6. Westland and Wellington Racing Clubs have to select dates for their autumn meetings to the satisfaction of the Chairman. The North Otago club's dates have been altered correspondingly to Dunedin’s. Tho Committee recommended that, among others, the Geraldine Hunt Club, Laureston Sports Club, Springfield Racing Club,’ Mohaka Club, Centre Bush Club, Eltharn Racing Club, and Hawera Mounted Rifles bo registered under Rule 170. Sir George Clifford was re-elected Chairman.
