ACCIDENT RISKS.

At the Chamber of Commerce meeting-to-day it was stated that an employer'" liability for accidents began from :'■■ moment a workman begins work ami , a fortnight after. Itv,/ also stated that there was an amendment before Parliament to remove the existing injustice attached to risks for accidents, by which insurance companies accepted no liability until a fortnight after an accident. MUNICIPAL MATTERS. In regard to the vexed question of deviation of the town creek, a definue arrangement has been arrived at between the Borough Council and the Trust Lands Trustees that portion of the creek running through the centre of the town is to be diverted and enclosed in a concrete channel under the roadway. This is tha outcome of the health officer’s report to the Borough Council. The exhibits in the museum are to remain there until the Council decide whether to build new pramUes or not,
