PENSION BY FRAUD,
By Telegraph—-Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At tho Oxford Magistrate’s Court on Monday an old ago pensioner named Wilkie, a German, was sentenced to 14 days’ hard labor, and ordered to refund Til, amount of pension improperly obtained by false representations. FOUND DROWNED. The body of John Thomson, traffic manager of tho New Brighton TramwayCompany, who has beon missing since Saturday night, was found this afternoon in the Avon, near the Estuary. A FIRE. A firo broke out in the engine-room of the Addington railway workshops this evening, but was quickly suppressed by the workshops brigade. Tho damage is estimated at £SO or £6O, assuming that the engines aro not injured.
