A FRENCH GUNBOAT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Tho new French gunboat Zoleo, which left Noumoa on tho 10th inst., arrived at noon to-day. Sho will be docked hero for tgonoral overhaul. The trip from Nouuea was very rough, tho seas boing oxccptpnally high. Tho warship, however, iiado a good weather passage. Sho will amain here about a fortnight. DISTRICT HEALTH OFFICER. Dr. Heuzley, who has lately been rcliov)g Dr. McGill as District Health Officor t Auckland, has boon appointed to tnko ,p the duties of District Health Officer .t Nelson. It has not been decided rhether ho will bo permanently stationod at Nelson.
