PARLIAMENTARY.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The Young Persons Protection Bill has been passed through Committee. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30. In reply to questions, Ministers stated that it was the intention of Government to roview all charges under the Advances to Settlors Department, in order to see whethor the charges on small loans could not reasonably be reduced; that a Bill was being prepared to extend the franchise for tbe election of hospital trustees, and also for the olection of members of education boards.
EVENING SITTING. Tho House resumed at 7.80. The Orchard and Garden Posts Bill, and Land and Live Stock Auctions Bill, ,vero road a socond time pro forma. Mr Duncan moved tho second reading of the Birds Nuisance Bill, to provide for tho destruction of injurious birds. A long discussion ensued, the large majority of the speakers expressing themselves in favor of tho Bill. The second reading was agreed to on tho voices. Tho Second-hand Dealers Bill was read a second time. The llouso rose at 11.45.
