Defendant, who is Chief Detective at Dunodiu, seizod the plaintiffs' books and papors, and they wero charged with betting on toto odds and keeping a gaminghouse. Plaintiffs brought an action for trespass and conversion, which was decided against then) by Judge Williams, on the ground that Campbell was justified in seizing the books, etc., which might reasonably bo supposed to afford evidence, oven though a second chargo was not proceeded with. From this they appeal.
