A VETERAN JOURNALIST.

IMPRESSIVE OBSEQUIES. (Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. Tho remains of the veteran journalist, Geo. W. Main, were interred at tho Symonds street cemetery this afternoon. The funeral was largely attended. For fifty years Mr Main has trodden his weary way to the New Zealand Herald office to perform the responsible duties entrusted to him. The frost of age has shone on the veteran’s head during the past yoars. A son, known as “ Skipper ” Main, has been most hospitable to Gisbornites visiting Auckland. At the graveside to-day I noticed a number of Gisbornites present paying last respects to the veteran journalist. Deceased has relatives in Gisborne.
