A CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER, By telegraph—Press Association— At Otaki to-day Harriet Drake was committed for trial on a charge of the manslaughter of Dorothy Gwendoline Drake, her daughter, aged years, whom it was alleged succumbed to the effects of whipping, administered by accused. Bail was allowed in one surety of £4OO, and two of £2OO each. A CENTENNARIAN. Mrs Christie, of Karori, who arrived in Wellington in 1851, celebrated her hum dredth birthday to-day.
