From a good start, Ferris glided to the front, and made the pace very lively for the first few laps, soon obtaining a lead of a quarter of a lap from Larsen, with Vomer and Newey in the order named. .A eighth lap Newey retired ow ng ' , an accident to his skates. Ferris, closety attended by Larsen, kept the p-ce merry to the eleventh round, when lie lapped Vosper, and Larsen, in attempting to follow Ferris’ example, came to grief, and although he continued in the "race, he could not get on terms with Ferris, who won by half a lap, with Vosper third. There was a large number of ladies present, who gave an excellent exhibition of graceful skating. Me take this opportunity of congratulating the management upon the new rules framed for the comfort of lady patrons, who are sure to fully appreciate the efforts made on their behalf.
