DEATH OF BISHOP COWIE.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Bishop Cowie died this morning. He died of aneurism of the heart, aged 71. A presentation intended for the deceased on the 33rd anniversary of his consecration will now be transferred to Mrs Cowie. It is expected to reach DIOOO.

Dunedin, last night. In accordance with the canons provided for the purpose, Bishop Neville, as senior bishop, becomes acting-Primate until the General Synod meet for the purpose of election.

A memorial service for the Primate id to be held in the Cathedral at 5.13 evening.
