AMALGAMATION
(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —Upon two occasions during the y past week Cr Whinray is reported to have said that many of the residents of the suburbs left the town to escape paying heavy rates. Cr Lysnar, on tbe other band, has frequently contended as an argument for amalgamation that if tbe suburbs joined with the Borough the suburbanites would have less rates to pay. Will one or both of the gentlemen mentioned please explain ?—I am, etc., Pczzlkd.
