ADDINGTON MARKET.

PRICES EASIER.

By Tolegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. The Addington market weekly sales took place to-day. Fat Cattle : There was a large yarding, and a slight weakening in prices, beef ruling at from 19s to 24s per lOOlbs. Prime steers made from £9 to All; others, j£6 to A 3 10s; heifers, £5 to A 3 ; prime cows, A3to £9 17s 6d; and others £2 15s to £7. Fat Sheep: The bulk of the yarding comprised ewes, many of which were of indifferent quality, and really good wethers were rather scarce. Owing partly to the unsatisfactory news from London, freezing buyers had reduced their limits for both wethers and ewes, and, although the sale opened fairly well, it had not proceeded far before a sharp decline took plaoe, and before the close many lines were withdrawn. On the whole, a drop of fully from Is 6d to 2s per head can be recorded in both wethors and ewes. A few prime heavy-weight wethers were taken for export at from 8s 6d to 13s 9d, and inferior sorts down to 7s 6d. Fat Lambs : About 1000 came forward, very few of which were of good quality. Considering the entry, a fair sale resulted, the bulk being taken for export at 10s to 12s lid, an 1 by butchers from 18s 7d to 20s 4d, while those taken for freezing made from 15s to 18s 6d, unfinished stores selling as low as 14s. Prime heavy ewes, for local trade, brought 14s 6d to 16s Id, unfinished sorts making 8s 6d to 9s 3d.

Pigs: The high prices ruling lately, owing to the small markets, caused a very heavy yarding to come forward this week, and all classes were easier, baconers showing a decline of 4s per head, while small stores were hardly saleable. Baconers sold at from 33a 6d to 48s 6d, and up to 50s for extra heavy, averaging 3}d per lb ; porkers, 22s to 31s, equal to 3Jd and 4d per lb ; stores, 9s to 18s; weaners, 4s 6d to 8s; and suckers, Is 6d to ss.
