AN IDEAL SITE.
(To the Editor of the Times.)
Sir, —We have two good bands in Gisborne, and both have always been ready to assist in ovory worthy causo. Tho present opportunity seems a most favorable one for the public to show their appreciation of our volunteer bandsmen. We cannot expect them to give open-air concerts with no better conveniences than a few old packing eases, as on the last occasion. Napier has two band rotundas, and we havo none. Although Gisborne has been a borough for a quarter of a century, we havo nothing in tho shape of an ornamental structure built by the borough, with tho exception of the firebell tower. The rotunda would be a real ornament to tho town and the site suggested by the Beautifying Association, when filled in and planted with trees, will be an ideal one. Another good site is the lately acquired reserve on the point of the Waikanao Beach. In five years’ time either of these spots could be made a oredit to the town, and in selecting a site we must consider, not the present appearance and suitability of things, but the suitability of the place in the years to come.—l am, etc.,
A Lover of Music,
