AN ECHO.

(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —I am on tho side of those who advocato building a band rotunda on the Point. As an echo always makes sweeter melody than tho original sound, so distance attunes and makes the harmony of a brass band bewitching to the senses. “ Music hath charms to soothe the savage broast,” therefore the minds and hearts of the lawyers and bankers (who are the principal residents in the neighborhood) will bo softened, so that intending litigants will be advised to settle their differences out of court, bringing into actual practice that beneficent precept of “ Peace on earth and goodwill to all men.” Bank customers will have their applications for overdrafts roadily granted ; strangors from afar will bo so cnchauted by tho fascinating strains of music that they will take up their abode amougst us, deeming that porchanee they have arrived at the “ Happy Valley ” ; the West Enders and the residents of the distant suburbs will rejoice and be glad with thoso who, with a rare insight, bit upon so suitable a locality for the rotunda, —I am, stc.,

Orpheus.
