A GREAT STILL

Paris, April 25. Some American "moonshiners ” have just been arrested after having operated in the centre of Paris for three years. Their still, which was of enormous capacity and set up in expensive cellars four stories deep, was only discovered through the revenge of the sweetheart of ono of the owners after a quarrel. Following the seizure of the books more than fortjqarrests were made among the French liquor dealers who had handled the fraudulent goods. Three prominent wholesale firms were implicated. One was found actually connected with the illicit still by a private pipe after the manner of American petroleum lines. The pipe was run twenty feet below the sewers and extended eight blocks, conveying “ moonshine ” alcohol into vats under the very eyes of the inspectors. The still was run by three brothers rom West Virginia named Gordon and wo New Yorkers, whose names have not een divulged.
