[By Telegraph—Press Association) Christchurch, last night,

A poll was taken to-day to decide the City Council’s proposal to raise a special loan of £7OOO for tho purpose of a reticulation scheme for fire prevention purposes. Only 329 votes were recorded, 95 being for and 234 against. Therefore the proposal was lost.
